Function 1
This site has 5 Java applets that can be used for review or as openers. The first is a dynamical diagram that ilustrates the connection between the notion of a function as a mapping and its geometrically intuitive representation as a curve in the plane. It is also suitable as a repetition before introducing the derivative. The next are matching the graph to its equation. The fourth displays the graph of the function f(x) = a x3 + b x2 + c x + d after numerical input of the coefficients a,b,c,d, and the fifth is a Function Plotter which has many applications. There are also several links to worksheets for use with the applets.
The student will recognize and apply the mathematical patterns of functions using properties and various representations.
