Angry Birds - Projectile Motion
This blog shares details of how a teacher in western New York used the popular game "Angry Birds" to teach principles of projectile motion and momentum conservation. QuickTime videos of the game in action are analyzed using LoggerPro. Teachers (or students) can download the video clips from this site for analysis purposes.
"Angry Birds" is a popular video game, in spite of its heavy physics requirement. Constructivist theory suggests that any time students are able to draw from past experiences while building abstract conceptual frameworks , learning will be more efficient. For example, students instinctively do not aim directly at a target they wish to hit within the game, because gravity causes the bird to fall off that straight-line path.
