Roller Coasters
This quick interactive simulation allows the user to choose one of three roller coaster tracks and to start from any of five positions. Once the user enters these parameters they can watch the car make its run and read an explanation of how potential and kinetic energy must be considered in roller coaster design.
Conservation of mechanical energy is examined in a straightforward, entertaining manner. Changes in potential and kinetic energy are illustrated and explained.
