MendAlien Genetics
This BioCoach activity developed by Pearson will students review the basic concepts of Mendelian genetics. It consists of two main sections. The first section guides the student through the analyses of a number of genetic crosses. In each case, the modes of inheritance for the genes involved will be unknown to the student. The second section allows the student to analyze and interpret genetic crosses on his/her own to enhance genetics problem solving abilities.
This particular activity introduces students to genetic crosses in such a clever way they become quickly consumed by this mythical race. Students should be allowed to use this as a follow-up to directed instruction as a way to solidify the learning process.
