Journey Into DNA
This computer exploration allows students to travel to the tiny world of DNA. Beginning with the body and ending with the atoms that make up a single DNA base, students can zoom in to 15 different levels to see DNA's relationship to man as a whole. Students also see the intricate bending and winding that takes place within a chromosome, which allows more than five feet of DNA to fit within the nucleus of a tiny cell.
This site is mostly clicking and reading but it is an easy animation for students to understand the structure of DNA and the relationship of cells, chromosomes, genes, DNA. The limitation of this site is there is little active thinking and teachers should ask higher order questions.
