Endocytosis and Exocytosis
This animation is one of many on a web-site developed by McGraw-Hill. These videos accompany their higher education biology textbook, and as a result, some of the animations are too detailed for the high school level. All videos are accompanied by clear graphics, a written transcript and an auditory explanation, which will serve all learning styles.
One of the great features of these videos is that they can be paused and replayed. This feature allows the teacher to use this resource in a variety of ways. This particular animation provides a wonderful explanation of the various ways in which materials are transported into and out of cells. All forms of endocytosis are demonstrated, such as phagocytosis, pinocytosis and receptor mediated endocytosis. Exocytosis is described as well.
