An anticipation guide is a comprehension strategy that is used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and build curiosity about a new topic. This website provides blank templates in addition to several templates specifically designed for use in science, social studies, and with picture books. Research sources are cited that support this strategy. This strategy lends itself well for use with whole groups, small groups, or individuals. Ideas are listed for differentiation.
