Magnify It!
This link is "Adventures With Kids, Learning as We Go" Blog. This specific month is exploring with magnifiers and how they can open up a facinating new world to children.
The Teach/Learn Blogging Carnival hosted by Science@home is for anyone, because we are all teachers and learners all the time. Exploring with magnifiers can open up a fascinating new world to children. Looking at things with a magnifier also encourages children to look at objects closely and notice the details. This is an important skill for scientists (for example, it is essential in identifying plants and animals). There is a wonderful 4 minute video clip of "Sid the Science Kid" showing how his class is using a magnifing glass and journaling (really cute). There are additional activities for students to explore with a hand lens.
