Cells Alive-Cell Models
This site has been a proverbial teacher favorite for years. The site itself contains several interactive to explain various concepts in cell biology, microbiology, immunology and microscopy. The site also provides stock video, a free CD-ROM and other multimedia downloads. The linked site covers cells.
This website could be used with several different instructional strategies. A teacher could use the multimedia to introduce cell organelles and their functions, students could work in group interactions or students could explain the site on their own for review. Students also have access to various formative assessments in the form of puzzles and quizzes. There are also two cell cams that are shown live four times a day (like bacteria dividing).
