Design Classroom Management to Enhance Learning

Components include:

Classroom Management
- Modeling and clearly stating expectations are necessary to establish procedures as classroom routines.
- Start the day off smoothly with daily schedules, assignments and posted objectives.
- Post homework assignments for the day and have students add them to their agendas.
- Create a community of learners by having them develop ownership of the classroom.
- Give every student a job to take the workload off of the teacher, save time, and keep the classroom running smoothly.
- Convey rules and consequences at the beginning of the year and firmly establish them through positive reinforcement.
- Design anchor activities so that all students remain engaged.
- Post homework assignments and conduct parent communication is done seamlessly through a mailing system that goes home each day. Students may place mail to other students using the mailing system.
- Monitor assignments through a reflection journal that requires students to write three things they learned or questions they have.
- Use Post its as exit tickets.
- End the day on a positive note with classroom clean up by the students.
