Nike iD allows you to customize your own sneakers; if you can think it, you can build it. In this lesson, students will use permutations (think tree diagrams) to calculate how many designs are possible. In the case of the Nike FreeRun, there are over 12 billion!
We’ll also discuss the unintended consequences of so many options. Does an abundance of choice make us happy, or can it lead to an unhappy state of paralysis by analysis?
