Fun Ways to Teach Kids ages 4-8 About Weights and Measure
Length, Width, and Height are physical properties. This resources gives several examples of how measurement can be integrated into everyday life (school or home). The scavenger hunts will work well for the classroom. This is a science concept that focuses on measurement and can be used in many different ways. This could be a take home activity for estimation, a whole-group, team, or individual activity. Students could be given pieces of paper or string that represent the ruler and asked to use them in the classroom to check items for length, width, and height. Students could be asked to keep the items they find a "secret" until they have time in class to share.
