Extreme Research Report

In this lesson, students will investigate various types of extreme weather, manipulate virtual temperatures and humidity to create specific weather conditions, use reading strategies to gather information, organize information on a graphic organizer, use proper writing conventions to complete an informative research report, and share what they have learned with the class through an oral presentation. This cross-curricular lesson challenges students to sharpen research and writing skills. The lesson connects to 6th grade Science Standard 8: The Atmosphere > Weather and Climate, specifically to GLE 0607.8.4 Analyze meteorological data to predict weather conditions. This would work as a full lesson or as a research project option for students during a research unit.
